2008-02-01 — SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4f Uploaded

Several new features and a host of stability and functionality improvements are part of the latest release of the SIMPOL Developer Kit, now in version Pre-Release 4f. This is a major release. The previous releases of SIMPOL Desktop and the multi-user database component will have timed out by the end of January 2008 so get this one ASAP! 2007-09-29 — SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4e Uploaded

A number of significant improvements and new capabilities are part of the latest release of the SIMPOL Developer Kit, now in version Pre-Release 4e. This is a major release. A number of important improvements are a part of the latest release of the SIMPOL Developer Kit, now in version Pre-Release 4d. The SIMPOL development team is happy to announce the release of the SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4c. This is a major release and contains numerous improvements over the previous version, as well as a number of new pieces of functionality, among others interactive database table creation, the new printing architecture, and a number of new libraries and utilities. Prototypes of the SIMPOL Developer Kit are available for testing and evaluation by competent developers or reviewers. If you are interested to join our community of SIMPOL Developers, please let us know. 2007-01-10 — SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4a Uploaded

Today the development team of SIMPOL have achieved another major milestone with the release of the SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4a. This contains numerous improvements over the previous version, and heavy emphasis has been placed on improving much of the funcionality that was already present in the earlier release as well as adding a number of useful features. 2006-11-29 — It's Official! RealBasics Limited is Now Simpol Limited

RealBasics Limited has been renamed Simpol Limited. This is the first step in our final run up to our marketing and sales push for the release of the final version of the initial products.

2006-11-16 — SIMPOL Developer Kit Installed and Tested on Linux Using Wine

The development team has successfully installed the SIMPOL Developer Kit Pre-Release 4 using a freshly installed Wine layer, with no additional components required. The resulting installation ran smoothly and even graphical programs using the Windows wxWidgets components ran without trouble on Wine. The version tested was Wine 0.9.25 on both Gentoo and Ubuntu Linux distributions. This should not be interpreted as a statement regarding long-term strategy, since we consider this purely a temproary solution until the entire package is running natively on Linux.

2006-10-29 — RealBasics is Now Using the New PPSR Component for Production Databases

After significant testing and fine adjustment, we have now switched to using the new database engine for our production databases on the web site. These are running using the Linux components and hosted on a Linux server. Also the test CGI programs are now running using the new database engine.

2006-09-14 — SBNG Pre-Release 4 with Data-Aware Forms and the Initial Form Designer

Today the development team of SIMPOL have achieved a major milestone with the release of the first version of SIMPOL with the support for data-aware forms and a Form Designer. It also includes a SIMPOL Personal program to act as the host for the various tools. This program is very similar to the old Superbase programs and has numerous menu items that will gradually be filled in as we progress. This release is available for download to all registered users of the existing pre-release. This release also adds the standalone scrollbar controls, and additional common dialog functions, as well as new features in various existing controls. It also includes the onmouse event for forms, and the popup menu capability as a method of a form. See the release notes for more information.

2006-05-11 — SBNG Pre-Release 3b with More wxWidgets Components

Today the development team of SIMPOL and SBNG have released another intermediate version of SIMPOL and Superbase Next Generation. It is available for download to all registered users of the existing pre-release. This release adds tool bars, a grid control for forms, and a new set of common dialog functions based on wxWidgets, which deprecates the UTUI-based versions that were previously in the product. There is also two intermediate utilities: a record view client for viewing database tables in SBME format, and an import/export tool that supports importing from ASCII-Delimited, PPCS Type 1, and SBME, and exporting to ASCII-Delimited and SBME. These tools are works in progress, and will eventually be incorporated into a Superbase Next Generation Personal type of program. See the release notes for more information.

2006-03-18 — SBNG Pre-Release 3a with wxWidgets Components

Today Superbase Developers plc delivers a significant intermediate release of Superbase Next Generation. It is available for download to all registered users of the existing pre-release. This release adds bitmap buttons, menus, and volatile files to the existing functionality. See the release notes for more information.

2005-12-29 — SBNG Pre-Release 3 with wxWidgets Components

Today Superbase Developers plc has released the third major stage pre-release version of Superbase Next Generation. It is available for download to all registered users of the existing pre-release. This release includes a fairly complete set of initial form components, plus windows and dialogs (modal and non-modal).

2005-10-17 — Superbase Next Gen goes wxWidgets

Superbase has chosen the wxWidgets GUI library for its cross-platform graphical user-interface components. This decision has resulted in a significant acceleration in the delivery of Superbase Next Generation across multiple platforms. In addition, the wxWidgets library includes a number of highly useful and sophisticated user-interface components that will enrich applications for Superbase customers, including grid controls, tree controls, tab panel controls, bitmap buttons, and much more.

2005-10-17 — Superbase Customers Starting the Transition to SBNG

Superbase is now working with several of its customers to actively convert their applications to Superbase Next Generation. The initial phase of this activity is to examine and assess the customer applications and to ensure that the specific capabilities required by each of these applications is available and working in Superbase Next Generation at an early stage.

Now is the best time to evaluate your application and see if it will be able to take advantage of the enhanced feature set being built into the new Superbase.
