I seem to have narrowed it down to a problem of having two detail blocks on this first form of the project.
With only one or the other, all is fine. With both, the project crashes. I have multiple detail blocks
on other forms in the project with no issues.

JDK thanks for your perspective on this. Perhaps then this is poor design of the table of child records then on my part. My primary objects are mineral specimens. I have another table of all of their different USES.
Sometimes I photograph them, in which case I assign a link number for the photo and associate data details. In some cases I might loan them and assign a loan number and enter associated data for the loan. If I open my photo form the detail block will link the photo number for the records I want to see, but all of the loan uses would have .nul usually in the linked photo number. On the converse if I want to see loans details I open
a loan form and the detail block finds linked loan numbers and I don’t see the .nul photo entries. Perhaps the solution for me then is to split the USAGE table- separate PHOTO uses from separate LOAN uses. IF they
need to be linked I could assign a common USAGE number to both the split tables.

Thank you for the update JD. I had heard from Neil’s son Ian of his passing and was greatly saddened as well, and also offer my condolences to his family and friends.

I’ve used Superbase and now Simpol in total now for only almost 20 years. I’ve loved the product for
my applications. I hope it can keep going- and growing. Neil had mentioned in October that another release was underway. Working with him over the internet was always both fun and impressive. I considered him a genius and will miss our interactions.

Even in 2.10, I am still not able to delete fields in .sbm files (at least not in the ones
that have been converted over from Superbase files). If I select a field from the field list and click
    “delete” NGPersonal just completely crashes.

In the prior release we used to run our production .smp program by linking to the .exe in the \redist directory, but in the new release it seems we can only run .smp if the .exe and other redist files are moved to the \bin folder where the .smp, data and form files are all kept. Is that right, the files from \redist should be moved to the \bin directory with the .smp and other files?

Might you include a example form with an unlinked detail block in the next release of the Business project?

    Hi Neil,
The contents come from a static list. The content shows when the form is open in Personal, but not immediately when the form is opened in the project. If I scan through several records then eventually
the contents show up. Or if I re-select the content and save the record the contents will continue to show normally.

With the new versions I have been able to successfully form a chain of links under the Detail Block LINKS tab. Unfortunately, the data from the last link in the chain (3rd of three) doesn’t show up in the detail block when save and then open the form. I can send the sample form.

The former- simpler thing- is all I had in mind. Copy a word or two of text and past it into a single grid
cell. I now see that CTRL+V does work- but I have to double click in the cell to accept the paste. Just typing seems to automatically open the cell for accepting content. Thank you.

Thanks Neil. I suspect that this inconsistency isn’t what you’d like to see in the applications though.

The High Contrast (Black) theme makes the project look like we had originally designed it to look. Unfortunately much of the rest of my desktop is not as attractive as in the default theme, and Photoshop doesn’t show my images in the High Contrast theme. Switching themes back and forth doesn’t seem a very good option.

I think something else is going on. If I execute the project through the IDE the buttons all look fine. However, they do not look right when I execute the program by running the .smp file. Please compare the proper appearance in the image at left with the undesirable look on the right.

Indeed, I don’t try to do this very often, but I could do it in Superbase. Here is an example of the db link dialog from my own project in Superbase showing what I tried to
do in the museum project in NG.

Not of highest priority at this point (as compared, for example to trying to unlinked detail blocks), but this link structure I can see would be handy in some graphical reports. I have not tried to build such serial links in graphical reports yet. Dare I try?

    Thanks Neil,
Sorry I forgot order matters, and indeed, I found that I had inserted my include .sma before the uisyshelphdr.sma include. Fixed.
