I am ready to test a multiuser version and cannot figure out what is needed on the server side for “guisimpolserver.exe” version Yes I have read the docs. I have a config file (based off the sample provided), attached… I never used PPCS with SB so I’m a complete newbie to it.. I purchased a 10user license and installed it with serial number. Copied smpol32.dll to the same directory after getting error msg. Copied all db’s, forms etc to the bin directory Set up the icon properties with: c:permitlvserverguisimpolserver.exe c:permitlvserverpermitlv.cfg But when I double-click, it does not run, no error msgs.. nothing to tell me what is wrong. I expected to see an interface with choices for reorg, backup etc… Can someone please provide the specs for properly setting up a server? What files should be where? Jean Vallee End goal here is setup server directory here & test then create install CD to send to client to install on their server. Any problems with this?

I'm more or less at the same stage as you wanting to run a PPCS server to
see how things run.
I got the file sharing cfg file etc going with simpolserver.exe but NOT
with the guisimpolserver ( this gave me an error message … can't remeber
as was about a month ago)
Told Neil & he said there was a problem with the guisimpolserver & that it
would be treated in the next release. Can't say more for the moment.
Hope this info helps All the best Ian macphersonMay 13, 2013 at 12:34 pm #1607Jean ValleeParticipantOn 5/13/2013 5:15 AM, Ian Macpherson wrote:

I have a customer who expects to go live THIS WEEK. This is not good at
all.
I have 1500 hours and 60000 line of code in my conversion and need
working tools. I keep running into limits and it's very frustrating.Jean

days a week since last October I don't dare calculate how many hours.
I knew there would be hurdles but didn't realise how frustrating it would
become.
I read your message about dialogs playing up …. I'm having similar
problems with my main case file form where I use listpickers to allow user
input selection from other files with ongot and onlost focus functions but
for some reason ( & Neil doesn't know either for the moment I gather)
there are 2 dialogs that refuse to either validate the user choice & go to
the next setfocus or to Cancel & quit the form & I need these badly !!
Plus a number format problem I posted today !
I programmed my app with the SB30 PPCS Server/Client about 4 years ago too
see how it worked but gave up in the end because of slow transfer rates
for 2 heavy REPORT things & I wanted to see how SIMPOL PPCS handled them
so I asked Neil for explicit information about the PPCS He has only
replied vaguely and for the moment things are still nebulous in my head.
What i need is a full Server example & Client example as was given with
SB30 !! To be truthful I am waiting for Neil to reply to you !!
I wanted to use the Demo 3 user db engine as my customer would never agree
to putting up the money until he has seen it working ( He's a lawyer so a
cautious guy … laughs !!!) but for the moment all I've had are file
single user error messages. I got the app working on another machine
linked as a Microsoft network as z: & using the sbme files rather than
PPCS but impossible to run the app on 2 machines simultaneously obviously
due to sbme being single access I found the access time a bit slow but
have not talked to Neil about it as it is outside the specifications
anyway.
Can't see how you are going to please that customer. In an email dated
april 18th Neil said with respect to the db engine < Normally people don't
need the database engine until much later in the process>> so you need to
talk to him I think !!

I hope he replies in this newsgroup. Pre-application framework, I had
gotten a crude program working over a network but I've forgotten how I
did it over the last 3 years or so. I am basically at the stage to move
from completely SB to Simpol, but not having the time to work through
exactly how one sets this up has been an easy procrastination technique
for me.May 15, 2013 at 2:33 am #2257Jean ValleeParticipantOn 5/14/2013 10:53 AM, kromkowski wrote:

NOT FULLY TESTED YET) I will be posting what files are needed and what
are the "gotcha's" when I take a breather next week after I get this
client off my back. - AuthorPosts
